По умолчанию после установки она не стартует. Сделайте этот
сервис автостартуемым любым удобным для Вас способом.

Все конфиги и пасвордники Самбы теперь находятся в /etc/samba а
не в /etc как раньше.
Проследите, что бы и в /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb и в самом smb.conf
все пути были правильными.
Ведь Вы наверняка подсунули новой самбе конфиг от прежней ;-)) а
там пути то уже другие!
