Скачал "у производителя" новую версию сабжа. Но под родным их именем nt.
При попытке установки получил кучу сообщений о конфликтах файлов
(прилагаются)
Я, конечно, понимаю, что можно сначала снести "родной" "Весенний"
X-Downloader и лишь потом ставить новый nt.
Но может есть какой-то содержательный смысл (существенные для работы в
системе отличия) в том, что в Spring-е именно X-Downloader (с суффиксом
alt), а не исходный nt?

В Spring'е (и до него, и сейчас в Сизифе) X-Downloader поставляется под
именем "X-Downloader", а не "nt"; более того, в spec-файле указано:
Obsoletes: nt
Вообще говоря, в Сизифе собран X-Downloader-1.26
