Вы будете смеяться, но у меня прямо противоположная ситуация! 8-)
Сегодня я заменил ATI Rage Rpo Xpert@Play 98 на ATI Radeon LE.
Бах! И антиалиасинг а KDE сразу заработал без каких-либо
перенастроек и изменений.
На самом деле тому есть простое объяснение. Я долго пытался добиться
антиалиасинга с Rage Pro (в частности я уже добавил эту пресловутую
последнюю строку в XftConfig). Успех был половинчатый. Антиалиасинг
иконок был, а вот антиалиасинг шрифтов так и не получился.
И теперь с Radeon всё стало сразу замечательно. Дело было
в драйверах. Уверен, что и у Вас всё заработает.
