По крайней мере с MS SQL 6.5 работал php-4, собранный с поддержкой Sybase.
trial-версия Sybase доступна на linux.sybase.com . Ищите нужный Вам
sybase-интерфейс, поищите также на dejanews, дискуссии на эту тему там
постоянно. Но перспективы решений на свободном софте и MS SQL безрадостны...
