Просто для справки:
Даже после того как сабж, в соответствии с его требованиями, был
первозапущен, настроен (с сохранением) под root-ом оный при запуске его
под обычным (разрешенным) пользователем опять заявляет, что надобно его
запустить и настроить под root-ом.
Вскрытие показало, что у /etc/xtcroast.conf не достает прав на _чтение_
посторонними. Зато есть право на исполнение 8-0
IMHO немного нелогично.
