Именно. Если вкомпилировать в ядро, то просто замечательно работает. Без
алсы.

Насколько мне известно (имею опыт траха с картой Ensoniq Audio PCI,
чип 1370, практически не отличается), вообще никаких проблем быть не
должно. Драйвер уже вкомпилирован (если только ядро не
перекомпилялось) в виде модуля, и должен работать нормально во всех
приложениях. Попробуй поднять звуковуху через Drak (кнопка "Настройка
оборудования").
