Имеется принтер Epcon Stylus C43SX
http://localhost:631/printers гласит:

Device URI: parallel:/dev/lp0
$ ls -l /dev/lp0
crw-rw---- 1 root lp 6, 0 Июн 1 11:46 /dev/lp0
В группе lp я присутствую.
Печатает без проблем. По крайней мере тестовую страницу и документы
опенофиса.
Но попытка посмотреть уровень чернил '/usr/bin/escputil -q -i -r /dev/lp0'
зависит от фазы луны. Может показать - может не показать, просто ничего не
выводит, ждет Ctrl+C.
Иногда предварительно /usr/bin/escputil -q -d -r /dev/lp0 помогает.
Иногда тест сопел. Причем тест сопел стартует в течении 10 секунд. И после
него можно просмотреть уровень чернил. А потом сразу же говорю "покажи еще
раз" - и фигвам (национальная индейская изба). От рута тоже самое.
Пробовал добавлять опцию '-m escp2-c43sx' - ничего не меняется.
В /var/log/messages периодически встречаются только вот такие строки:
Jul 28 22:36:36 archer kernel: [ 987.728019] lp0: ECP mode
Jul 28 23:07:29 archer kernel: [ 2840.324022] lp0: ECP mode
Система DVD АЛЬТ5 + сизиф.
$ rpm -qf /usr//bin/escputil
gutenprint-5.2.3-alt2
Вопрос. Где чего подправить?
P.S. В бранче4 любая функция escputil выполняется мгновенно. А здесь даже
'escputil -d' довольно долго пережевывает. 10 секунд и более.
