Это разные технологии -- телеграм больше про "поток",
почта ещё и про "архив".
В этом плане лет пятнадцать назад понял, что:
* перетереть чё-нить быренько в IRC,
* подготовить тему и предметно обсудить в рассылке,
* результат поместить в сизиф/багзилу/вики --
есть применение каждой из технологий в её "точке" пространства
"поток/архив"; а вот попытки применения вики как "потока"
или чатика как "архива" в какой-то мере возможны, но всё равно
противоестественны.
А главным свойством мест общения для меня оказалось
отношение сигнал/шум.
PS: про почтовики -- двадцать лет на mutt. :)
Но это пара дней чтения FAQ, документации и настройки
(впрочем, в моём случае за пару недель отбились --
переходил с pine).
PPS про поиск: меня уже несколько лет совершенно не устраивает
гугловый на http://search.altlinux.org, поскольку он давно уже
начал тупо терять/прятать страницы, которые ранее точно были
в индексе (и совершенно точно есть в архиве); если кто поможет
перетащить хотя бы на яндексовый, а в идеале на xapian omega,
буду премного благодарен.
