Смутно припоминается, что splix (и capt на canon) толком
не работали, т.к. авторы при реверс-инжиниринге не докопали
до обработки ошибок; для canon работал cndrvcups, а для samsung
(конкретно ML-2850) пришлось брать PPD с сайта производителя,
т.к. с таковым из поставки cups тоже проблемы были (то ли
с размером бумаги, то ли более тяжёлые).
Вот только это подразделение samsung купил и, похоже,
закопал hp; не знаю, найдётся ли теперь PPD-шка для
ML-1660, но вот на всякий фрагмент из имеющейся:
