Верно. А если диск сыпется, тогда ещё и со сделанного дампа
следует снять копию, на которой уже работать (читается как
глупость, зато способно спасти от размышлений на тему того,
как было хорошо всего час назад).
Неплохая коллекция dd*rescue/dcfldd/dc3dd есть в составе
http://altlinux.org/rescue
Но в рассматриваемом случае должно хватить одной копии.
