NM давно уже хранит все настройки сам в своих конфигах (отдельно могут
храниться только пароли). Настройки из gconf должны автоматически
смигрировать при первом запуске nm-applet. Кажется был рецепт что
делать, если этого почему-то не произошло (сходу не нашел, это было
очень давно: я уж и не помню с какой версии NM настройки перестали
храниться в gconf).
