Ну вот он был реальный. Разобраться, какие модули для работы с
NVidia установлены, почему нет попытки их загрузки (а, очевидно,
где-то intel жёстко вбит), и правильно выбрать и указать модуль.
Проблема решается либо удалением ненужного kernel-modules-nvidia
и сносом соответствующих кусков xorg в /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d, либо,
наоборот, созданием конфига для nvidia, в соответствии со ссылкой
на wiki, и сносом kernel-modules-nouveau (или как его там).
