А ALT c той же флешки ? Который за Вас уже настроили и Вы ещё не
поломали ? ;-)
Будет то же самое однажды и с Убунтой: xorg-то тот же самый. И настраивается
ровно так же. Скачущие из-за этого между дистрибутивами покой не обретут. Им
только могут пожелать доброго пути. :-)

1. xorg.conf НЕ НУЖЕН в подавляющем большинстве случаев.
