В изначальном баге был в комментах замечательных скрипт вокруг xrandr,
который фиксит эту багу.
Правда у него есть большой недостаток -- он обрабатывает только screen 0.
Мультимониторные конфигурации идут лесом :-/

Это еще и другая язва -- попытки притянуть пользователй с винды и мака,
ценой превращения linux из нормальной платформы в "винду или мак для
бедных".

Там есть еще тонкость -- в блобе от nvidia не воспроиводится, судя по
комментам. Ибо в nvidia оказались в этом плане более адекватные люди,
которые не стали ломать работающее.
