$ xrandr | grep mm
LVDS connected 1400x1050+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 287mm x 215mm
$ xdpyinfo | grep dimensions
dimensions: 1400x1050 pixels (370x277 millimeters)
С линейкой не мерял, но вывод xrandr вполне похож на правду для этого 14"
ноутбука, а вот вывод xdyinfo откровенное вранье.

обсуждается.
Очень странная позиция делать DPI 96 по-умолчанию, игнорируя даже вполне
известные данные по размеру монитора :-/
Там же приведен рецепт, вставка которого в startup скрипты вправляет
интеллект иксам.
Просто потрясает объяснение зачем это нужно -- для совместимости
отображения шрифтов в web-страницах с windows (где DPI 96 прибито
гвоздями).
