Ежедневно десятками и сотнями они не обновляются, это не правда.
Официальная версия бранча появляется ровно в момент его рождения. А дальше
он поддерживается обновлениями.
Ну и количество пакетов не связана со стабильностью никак. Вернее связана
-- если бы пакеты _не_ собирались, то использовать этот бранч было бы
_нельзя_ (ввиду того что для нового железа нужны новые ядра, а также нужно
выпускать security обновления как минимум).
И последнее -- обновления пакетов которые вы не используете вообще не
должно вас волновать, и их количество -- тоже. А если есть конкретные
претензии к тому, что используемый вами пакет обновили, когда этого делать
не следовало (есть основания считать что это привело к регрессии), вот
тогда -- проинформируйте об этом коллег.
