Аутентификация работет через локальных пользователей. Собственно при устанвке
указали пароль root, и рабочего завел потом с консоли.

Ну попробую. Железо слабовато, обычный комп, проц 1ГГц, чуть ли не селерон
(точно не помню), 1 Гиг памяти. Да еще и в работе, валять на долго нельзя,
если при Update что не так, то черевато будет. Мы собственно поэтому и спешили
чтобы к утру успеть, там раньше 4-ка стояла.
