Нет; может понадобиться для udev, но /dev на загруженной системе
должен быть уже заполнен.
На всякий напоминаю про полезность бэкапа корня (+/- /var, /usr)
на каком-либо из больших отдельных разделов вроде /home или
отдельном носителе. Из малого крайне полезно сделать бэкап
/etc и вывода rpm -qa --qf='%{NAME}\n' .
