Ну на самом деле сломать выравнивание можно и в LVM. В частности,
стандартное выравнивание для начала собственно PE относительно начала
PV там 64k независимо от PE size - хотя можно и поменять это значение,
а также при особой необходимости отключить это выравнивание и крутить
metadatasize как хочется, учитывая ещё +4k на PV header.
Свинство ещё в том, что для LVM нельзя затолкать в первый сектор
какой-то эквивалент Protective MBR, используемой в GPT для защиты от
альтернативно одарённых программ, работающих с разделами - при
обнаружении в первом секторе чего-то похожего на таблицу разделов
MS-DOS LVM даже не пытается искать дальше PV header. Приходится либо
надеяться на то, что особо умных программ не попадётся, и класть PV
непосредственно на устройство, либо всё-таки создавать там раздел,
после чего получать лишние проблемы при изменении размера устройства
(приводящие, например, к необходимости создания второго раздела для
нового PV после имеющегося).
