Ну значит USB 2.0, значит дело не в этом.

Не обязательно dev, сгодится любой пакет, предоставляющий /dev/null.
Вообще говоря, /dev/null должен быть в любой системе и по этой причине
смысл ставить зависимость я не вижу.
