Эээ... ну на http://search.altlinux.org первая формочка
(поиск по всему сразу) на слово "firewire" в числе первых
трёх результатов вывалила в т.ч.

-- а ничего более полезного вроде и не писал
(это про подключение видеокамеры).
Возможно использовать как ethernet, но у меня второй контроллер
ресетил шину и долго работать через него не получалось (в уже
угробленном Thinkpad A30p).
