Как показывает личный опыт, на обычных офисных приложениях прироста не будет
вообще. Если памяти мало (а мало/много в данном случае понятие весьма
относительное), то может быть и отрицательный прирост.
Реальный заметный выигрыш у меня получался только в трех случаях при памяти >4
Гбайт (и то не всегда), вычислительных задачах, оптимизированных под 64 бита и
в приложениях, также оптимизированных под 64 бита, собственная потребность в
памяти которых превышает 1.5-4 Гбайт (в зависимости от ОС и некоторых других
моментов при распределении памяти).
Причем оптимизация должна выполняться не просто заданием параметров
компилятора для старого приложения, а реальной адаптацией кода к 64-бит
платформе.
