Это разве установка?
Это у Вас компиляция из исходников.
А в данном случае Вам надо установить пакет libMySQL-devel (ну и зависимости тоже)

А компиляция не идет дальше
Я знаю что кампиляция.

Может ему версия mysql не подходит. Посмотрите в лог что он хочет.

Юр, для альта есть такое:
ftp://vladregion.ru/pub/4.0/sams
Попробуй их. Если для тебя уже устарели эти пакеты, то попробуй их пересобрать 
с новыми исходниками.

Руки не дошли, или есть на то какие-то другие причины?

Дистрибутив какой?
Для 4.0 взять можно тут: ftp://vladregion.ru/pub/4.0/sams
src.rpm для пересборки там же

Там в демонах кривость редкостная, а из меня программер уже никакой, да и
времени нет.

Спасибо всем!
1. Сам скомпилировала первый пакет и установил, что меня уже радует
ссылки на /usr/lib заменил на /usr/lib64 :-)
Потом немножко поковырял и все поставилось
Сча разбираюсь с програмкой
Но уже первые впечатления хорошие
