А что в логах на 3-4 консоли? Какое устройство флешка получает?
И что за дистрибутив для установки? Если это 4.1, то стоит попробовать сделать
монтирование по uuid/label, как это описано тут:

Ой ужас какой, как оно туда попало? Каталог alt0 должен находиться в /syslinux
флешки.
