Выяснилось, что помимо описапнного, нужно при настройки vpn
в /etc/resolv.сonf надо добавить строку :
# ppp temp entry
Кто-нибудь в двух словах может дать теоретическое обоснование
этого, а то получается чистый перебор вариантов.
