софтинкой, которой ещё нет в пакете.

Конкретно этот процесс удобнее начинать с:
sudo apt-get install etersoft-build-utils
rpm -i from-mdv.src.rpm
cd ~/RPM/SPECS
rpmcs from-mdv.spec
Можно отложить оригинал в сторонку, чтоб потом сделать
diff было.spec стало.spec | view -
и оценить разницу даже из автоматизируемого...
