Для начала можно, конечно, проверить md5sum, они не должны зависеть от сервера и если наблюдается несоответствие то образ можно выбрасывать не глядя на размер.
Извини за дурацкий вопрос, но ты точно прожигаешь "cdimage" а не "datacd" ?
