Есть личный аналогичный опыт.
Насколько я понимаю, тут одно из двух, Либо какой-то лишний модуль загрузился
и все сломал, либо наоборот, какой-то модуль не загрузился.
Возможно, в данном случае в списке модулей нужно было выбрать подходящий для
SATA контроллера ноута. А возможно, что нужно скормить ядру перед загрузкой
(в строке параметров под меню) параметр noload=имя модуля для запрета его
загрузки.
Например, у Samsung Q45 этим модулем, который надо было запретить, оказался
ata_piix.
