Увы,да.Если в дистрибутиве версия 1.61 без локализации ,то это ах.
Уже вышла 1.7.5 и лежит в сизифе

Прописывать mplayer и mencoder в зависимости строго говоря не логично т.к
велика вероятность что они Вам и не потребуются
альтернативы mplayer -xine для видео
mplayer -xine аудио
mplayer -xawtv,tvtime для tv
mencoder -mp1e, nvrec для записи tv
определяются в конфиге и не требуют пересборки
конфиг можно получить скопировав freevo_config.py в ~/.freevo/ocal_conf.py
в более поздних версиях есть local_conf.py.example (конфиг часто меняется так
что лучше использовать от "родной" версии.
/etc/freevo.conf редактируется при запусе freevo setup .но руками надежнее
(кажется там не было chanlist = russia хотя поддержка руской таблицы частот
уже была.
при просмотре и записи есть одно НО: tv norm для mplayer и mencoder задается
однозначно для всей таблицы частот.Если канал транслируется в отличном от
указанного стандарте --нет цвета при записи и просмотре (особенно актуально
для работы без x11)
