Я, в конце концов, просто вытащил HDD и поставил на другом компьютере. :-)
Правда, нарвался на неожиданную граблю - IDE умер, сейчас, на новых
материнках, если IDE и есть, то он висит на SATA-контроллере. В общем,
у меня в initrd драйвер ide-контроллера не попал. Ну и контроллеры,
сами по себе, разные могут оказаться.
