Проверил на той же машине под ядром 2.6.18-std-smp-alt7 - то же самое.
Статус сервисов vboxdrv и vboxnet - loaded , т.е. вроде все нормально.
Подробности по системе - ставился ALS4.0.1 и dist-upgrade из бранча, включая
ядро. Впрочем, проверял и на чистом ALS4.0.1 на другом железе - то же самое.
Может не хватает каких-то библиотек?
Как посмотреть, чего ему может не хватать для старта виртуальной машины через
VBoxVRDP (а по-другому и не стартовать - Х-ов нету) ?
Кстати, может ему действительно что-то из иксовых библиотек надо, ибо под ALD4
таких проблем нету (на том же самом ядре - std-smp) ?
