Зачем ставить, dist-upgrade же можно сделать. Чай не федора,
каждый раз перетирать ;-)
[kernel-image и kernel-modules придётся руками обновить, правда]

Как минимум быстрее работает (ядро вылизали за эти пару лет,
2.6.ранние на редкость тормозили) и больше железа умеет.
Ну и софт посвежей.
