Конкретно на заданный вопрос -- кажется, нет.
Но для ответа на него достаточно базового понимания
переменных shell, порядка выполнения скриптов при логине
и команды grep(1). При этом эти "концептуальные" представления
способны помочь решить ещё N+1 задачу.
И в конце концов, про ~/.i18n и /etc/sysconfig/i18n могут
подсказать здесь.
