ну почему же.

в AD довольно много уникальных для каждого пользователя атрибутов. и
никто не мешает вам вместо sAMAccountName (П.С. Иванов) использовать,
например, mail.
лично я _squid_ в AD пускаю не так.
зато ejabberd с AD работает именно как с ldap сервером. проблем никаких.
