Причем тут "протокол pppd" (что это за протокол такой;) )? Это - команда
модему, коим в данном случае является сам телефон, и прописывать ее,
например, в KPPP нужно в "Настройках модема" в "Команде инициализации".
К слову, убивает, что в KPPP для разных GPRS операторов приходится
создавать "копии" модемов, т.к. иначе менять эту строку придется каждый раз
вручную (да-да, я сам пользуюсь иногда KPPP, хотя могу и сказать 'pppd call
megafon' или 'ifup ppp0').

Не, похоже, из-за "плохого качества" или телефона, или железа компа, или
программ.
