Чтобы не бросаться в пространные рассуждения попробую сузить
количество вопросов. А все-таки как-нибудь можно заставить
выключаться принтер на usb, когда выключается... ну и
допустим включаться при старте (потому что в отличие от
виндовых дров для принтера - тут если забыл включить
принтер, то он сам не включится, а задание улетучится).
Если можно было подставить какой-нибудь костыль к cups,
чтобы он при старте как-нибудь включал питание на принтере,
ну или хотябы проверял перед отсулкой на принтер задания
включен ли он.
