Для alsa на то были веские причины (см. архивы), если есть
ощущение, что этот модуль тоже лучше поддерживать отдельно
по вполне сходным -- ну берите и поддерживайте, попросив
отключить в основной сборке.

Можно руками и сунуть поверх старого, если сильно неймётся,
но это сломается при следующем обновлении ядра.
А, ещё вариант -- поддерживать kernel-feat-ibm-acpi, где
его и подновлять. Соответственно попросить народ включать
в основные сборки.
Просто у меня, например, такой необходимости не возникло.
