Пинать его, похоже, бесполезно - таким безобразным поведением DiskOnChip
отличается ещё со времён ядер 2.2.x. Похоже, это обусловлено аппаратными
особенностями DiskOnChip (у него нет ни DMA, ни даже IRQ, весь обмен идёт
фактически в режиме PIO, с постоянным опросом готовности устройства).
Возможно, ядра 2.6.x будут работать лучше (по крайней мере, там в
драйверах в цикле опроса есть cond_resched()), хотя устройства с
интерфейсом IDE, работающие с DMA, всё равно будут меньше грузить систему.
