А вообще PCMCIA-карточки на этой машине распознаются?
Какое ядро, какие утилиты используются - pcmcia-cs или новые pcmciautils,
работающие со свежими ядрами 2.6.x?

Сначала нужно разобраться с PCMCIA - после этого, скорее всего, появится и
IDE.
