В fstab укажите следующие параметры при монтировании этого диска
users,noauto . Параметр users указывает что данный диск может быть
смонтирован и размонтирован пользователем, в отличии от параметра user ;
параметр noauto указывает, что не монтировать данный диск при старте системы.
На рабочем столе у себя сделайте ссылку на ваш usb-диск. Он будет монтировать
при обращении к нему. Можно сделать автоматическое монтирование диска при
Вашем входе в систему.
