Раз всё под Linux - LDAP или NIS. Последний перестал
поддерживаться в ALT где-то года два назад, если не ошибаюсь.
Остаётся LDAP.

Я подобное делал через раздачу каталогов NFS и монтирование их
по требованию с помощью autofs. Работает вполне надёжно,
быстро, настраивается просто.
