Нет никакого неприятия. Сам пользовался ещё начиная, вроде, с 3.x
Там всегда было очень плохо с блоковой моделью форматирования в
CSS. Посмотрел сейчас в 8.5 -- вижу, это исправили (набросал
небольшую тестовую страничку). Но то, что ещё в 6.х там с этим
было плохо -- это точно. Готов признать, что то, что написал
выше -- на настоящий момент является устаревшим. Надо будет
потестировать, как там теперь со всем прочим.

В любой момент откроем. Для меня достаточным авторитетом
являются лишь документы Web-консорциума, но не Ваши "директивы".
