Для хранение зеркала страницы (или FTP каталога), используйте --mirror (-m), что заменяет -r -l inf -N. Вы можете добавить Wget в crontab с запросом на проверку обновлений каждое воскресенье:
crontab
0 0 * * 0 wget --mirror http://www.gnu.org/ -o /home/me/weeklog

Пишу:
wget --proxy=on --proxy-user=archer --proxy-passwd=****** -t 0 --mirror ftp://ftp.linux.kiev.ua/pub/Linux/ALT/updates/Master/2.4/i586/
А в ответ:
