В imapd.conf работа с idled описана, а в cyrus.conf запуск демона
idled не разрешен :)

разрастания логов от мусора...

Теперь еще вопрос остался: можно ли в Цирусе задать пользоватеоей
с точкой в имени? Например v.pupkin@mail.ru? Если можно, то куда
смотреть? Пользователя хранятся в паме и заводить системных с
точкой в имени нельзя насколько знаю.

Ага. Значит можно такое сделать :). Одно уточнение: мне
получается надо вешать алиасы на системное имя юзверя, т.е. если
есть в системе есть pupkin, то на него и надо вешать алиас
v.pupkin. Правильно мыслю?

Алиасы интересуют только postfix - т.е. он смотри кому он соответствует
(какому юзеру) - а вот где сами юзеры при этом хранятся ему как бы
паралельно :)

Видимо, просветления не наступило :(. Прописал в /etc/aliases
krasavin: a.krasavin
Потом сделал postaliases /etc/aliases, рестарт Постфикса.
Теперь делаю:
mail -s test a.krasavin@parmatel.ru
А в логах:
host /public/lmtp[/public/lmtp] said: 550-Mailbox unknown.
Either there is no mailbox associated with this 550-name or you
do not have authorization to see it. 550 5.1.1 User unknown (in
reply to RCPT TO command))
Чего я делаю не так?

Ну значит момент насыщения мозга знаниями уже наступил... Теперь
рекомендую письма для рассылки составлять, но отправлять уже не стоит

А какая вообще польза от этого демона и что он должен делать? В инструкции
как-то смутно написано. Т.е. в каких случаях его имеет смысл включать (я так
понимаю, раскомментировав соотв. строку в cyrus.conf) и выключать (убрав
idlesocket в imapd.conf, если я не ошибаюсь)?

Он используется для анализа загрузки сервисов и выбора "удачного"
времени для выполнения переодических заданий, таких как архивация
логов и баз...

Хм... Закоментирова в imapd.conf
#idlesocket: /var/lib/imap/socket/idle
А в логах все равно:
error sending to idled: 2
service cyrus-imapd restart сделал.

Тогда нужно смотреть на /etc/syslog.conf на предмет масок
local6.<что-то> или *.debug - они могут увести информацию в другие
файлы.

Да.. наврал - пишет он в /var/log/messages - только пишет он там не как
cyrus а как pop или imap (в зависимости от протокола)

А на 12-й консоли?
cyrus бросает свои сообщения с префиксом local6, и у нас по-умолчанию
этот поток не откладывается в отдельный файл... Можно сделать
логирование отдельное чем-то типа этого в syslog.conf(пишу по памяти -
уточнять в манах):
local6.* /var/log/cyrus.log

Хм... Стоит еще посмотреть /var/log/auth/all - авторизация идет в лог
с префиксом local6.auth

А пользователь существует в базе sasldb?
А разрешена PLAIN авторизация?

Не знаю... Не использую sasldb с момента перехода на dbd 4.1(4.0 ?),
когда она стала глючить по-черному... Для простых случаев использую
pam, для более сложных MS ActiveDirectory или OpenLDAP...

Вообще я себе прописал в /etc/syslog.conf вот что:
#
# Cyrus
#
local6.debug /var/log/imapd.log
auth.debug /var/log/imapd.log
Поэтому все сообщения от cyrus-imapd валятся в один файл, а так же сюда
идет запись протокола работы SASL из любого вызвавшего приложения.
Достаточно удобно.
