Вообще-то у growisofs есть опция "speed", но у меня оно на любое значение материлось и записывать отказывалось (из командной строки). А если скорость не задавать, то, естественно пишет на максимальной, и результат не всегда хороший.
Я решил попробовать через графическую морду K3B. Нажал кнопку "определить скорости", а потом из списка выбрал почему-то "2", а он мне и говорит "Начинаю писать на скорости 4.1" :-О
На том и остановился: говорим 2 - подразумеваем 4.

а я то пишу скриптом из консоли, в т.ч, через ssh, так что вариант не
очень, но изредка сойдёт, спасибо.
