Да, действительно, поковырялся - вроде и не нужно.
Не мог считать дис с помощью cdrdao - в М 2.2 прописывал как scd1...
Указывал --device ATAPI:0,1,0 - безрезультатно,
Почитал-поигрался и получилось - нужно указывать ATAPI:1,1,0
(читалка стоит слэйвом на втором IDE шлейфе)
Посмотрим, как будет работать, а пока вопрос закрыт.
