Да, поскольку kdm, который способен выключить машину, тут не
используется.

Это можно поменять и после в /etc/sysconfig/autologin

У меня ALT Linux 2.4. Проблема состоит в том, что если применить
функцию автологина пользователя во время установки системы (из
инсталлятора), то машина не выключается, а только завершает
сеанс. Если же не воспользоваться этой возможностью во время
установки, то машина выключается нормально, но нельзя поставить
автологин с помощью "Менеджера входа в систему" - выдается
ошибка входа в систему.
