У меня такая проблема нередко бывала. Решение -
./configure --prefix=/usr/lib/kde2-compat (kde2-compat входит в
одноименный пакет.)
Правда обычно на смену одной проблемы у меня появлялась другая - 'I can't
find the designer plugins.' Пошарив configure я понял что он ищет
kdewidgets.la которого у меня нет, а он как раз входит в пакет
kdelibs-devel ?= 3.1.0-alt11, но у меня установлен 3.1.4-alt11-10.

Не надо давать таких советов.
