давайте еще с win95/3.11 сравним :-)
на ноутбуке с pII-350 и памятью 128М у меня стояла ХР проф, и compact с кде.
ощущения сходные (хотя компакт был чуть побыстрее). если с 98 сравнивать ...

насчет КДЕ и ОО - в приципе согласен, но неоднозначно: зависит от определения
приемлемой производительности.

не текстфайлами едиными. для задачи подготовка печатных текстов тогда уж lyx.
