Оная графическая менюха предназначена для входа в графическую
оболочку, ввиду чего именно в ней выбирать root и не положено.
Да и вообще логиниться под root'ом не положено: для этого есть
команда su, которую можно набрать либо в виртуальной консоли
(Alt-Ctrl-Fn), либо в терминальном окошке, запущенном из под
Иксов, в которые Вы должны предварительно войти от имени
"Васи".
